Wooden hiking trail winding between fall colored trees at Ledge State Park

Lace up your walking shoes or hiking boots and explore central Wisconsin’s beautiful scenery as you visit Dodge County’s parks and trails.

Many of the area’s parks offer outstanding hiking opportunities and stunning views. Ledge Park, located in northern Dodge County, is divided by a natural rock ledge, and the higher elevations provide a beautiful overlook of the surrounding area, which includes the Horicon Marsh. Nitschke Mounds Park in the central part of the county is home to more than three dozen preserved effigy mounds that were built more than 1,400 years ago. Wilderness areas like the Mud Lake State Wildlife Area and the Theresa Marsh Wildlife Area provide scenic spots to hike, as does the Wild Goose State Trail.
