Wild Goose State Trail

The Wild Goose State Trail is a scenic, multi-use 34-mile compacted limestone trail that stretches through the heart of Dodge County, linking the City of Juneau—known as the “Gateway to the Wild Goose Trail”—to the City of Fond du Lac.

Built on an abandoned railroad grade, the trail offers outdoor enthusiasts a chance to explore the natural beauty of the region, passing through oak woodlots, fertile farmland, prairie remnants, sparkling streams, and wetlands. It winds through the rural countryside of Dodge and Fond du Lac counties, skirting the western edge of the internationally renowned Horicon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge.

The trail is ideal for hiking, biking, snowmobiling, ATVing/UTVing, horseback riding, and birdwatching, with abundant wildlife and picturesque scenery along the way. Its level surface provides a safe, easy, and enjoyable experience for all ages. Parking and trail access (as well as vault toilets) are available at Highway 60 and Highway 26. Parking can also be found at the northern trailhead on Rolling Meadows Drive in Fond du Lac.

County-operated and private campgrounds are nearby for those wishing to extend their visit. A separate horse trail runs north from Highway 60 for about 14 miles, offering additional opportunities for outdoor recreation.
