Harnischfeger Park, spanning 132 acres, is the largest park in Dodge County. Located in the southeastern part of the county along the Rock River in the Town of Lebanon, the park is about one mile west of the unincorporated community of Ashippun. With its diverse terrain, vegetation, and facilities, the park offers visitors a wide range of recreational opportunities in a scenic and peaceful setting. The park is perfect for group events, with a clubhouse and two open pavilions available for family reunions, company picnics, weddings, and other gatherings.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Harnischfeger Park features several miles of hiking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing trails, as well as opportunities for snowshoeing, sledding, and fishing. Visitors can enjoy the mini-golf course, disc golf course, and a volleyball court. The park also has a playground for children and a canoe launch with canoe and kayak rentals available during the season. An 800-foot boardwalk provides additional shoreline fishing and offers a great spot for wildlife and wetland viewing.
The park offers a variety of camping options, including eight electric campsites with 50-amp service and water hookups at select sites, and one non-electric group site. Visitors will find amenities such as a potable water fill and dump station, free shower building, flushable toilets, portable toilets, a vault toilet on the north end of the site, picnic tables, fire rings, and firewood available for purchase.
